The primary goal of family sponsorship is Family Reunification. You are eligible to sponsor your spouse, partner or dependent children to become permanent residents of Canada if you are at least 18 years old and are:
» Canadian citizen or
» Person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act or
» Permanent resident of Canada
Also sponsors must be able to support their family members financially and must prove that they can meet the minimum amount of before tax income necessary to support the number of people in the sponsor’s family, including the sponsor.
